Choosing a school is rarely just about teaching. For a family that has just moved, the question is just as often: where do we meet other people? We work deliberately to help pupils, siblings and adults find one another.
Occasions where we meet
Start-of-term coffee
The term begins with a shared coffee morning where new and existing families meet before everyday life gets going.
Parent meetings
Each term we hold a meeting for parents and guardians – time to talk with each other and with staff without rushing.
Sport and camps
Training, tournaments and holiday camps bring together children from different year groups and families who wouldn't otherwise meet.
How we welcome a new family
Our routine from first contact to follow-up after the start of school.

First contact
The principal replies to the application or enquiry and books a call where the family can describe the child's background, languages and any needs.

A visit to the school
The family walks around during a normal school day, meets staff and sees the premises. Children are always welcome to join.

Introduction to the group
The teacher prepares the class for the new pupil and makes sure someone shows them around during the first days.

Follow-up after two weeks
The mentor checks in with the pupil and guardians on how the start has gone and what needs adjusting.

Termly parent meeting
Every term we arrange a get-together where families can meet each other and the staff outside drop-off and pick-up.

Many of our best get-togethers started because a parent suggested them. If you have an idea – an outing, a coffee evening, an activity for the children – get in touch with the school and we'll help make it happen.

Why community matters so much abroad
When a family moves abroad, the whole social network is often replaced at once. Relatives, neighbours and old friends remain in Sweden, and what used to sort itself out suddenly takes planning. The school therefore becomes more than a place of teaching — it is often the first fixed point in the new everyday life, for children and adults alike.
We work on this deliberately. New pupils get someone to walk beside during the first days, adults get opportunities to meet around school activities, and staff keep an extra eye on how a new family settles in during the first weeks.
Many languages, one playground
Our families come from different countries and backgrounds but share everyday life on the Costa del Sol. Children switch between Swedish, Spanish and English during the day, and that is one of the things that makes the environment special. For adults, the school is often the way into a network of other families who made the same move a few years earlier.
