Why we write these guides ourselves

Every week we meet families preparing a move to the Costa del Sol. The questions are similar: how does the move fit the school year, which year group will our child join, how does the Swedish curriculum work abroad, and what has to be sorted out in practice with the NIE, registration and healthcare. These guides are our collected answers, based on what we actually see working – not on promises we cannot keep.

Each guide stands on its own, but they belong together. If you start with the timeline for the move, choosing a school is the natural next step, followed by the practical side of settling in. We update the texts when routines, term dates or rules change, and we would rather say "get in touch" than guess when the answer depends on your situation.

How to read them

Guides or the Knowledge Hub?

These guides are open overviews: they explain how things connect and answer the questions we get most often. The Knowledge Hub is the deep dive for families who have already decided – month-by-month checklists, the order of the paperwork, what everyday life costs and the numbers that should be in your phone. It does not repeat the guides; it picks up where they end.
